Heard at our house.....

While doing Natalie's hair one morning:

Natalie: Mom, I think I have a urine problem.

Me:............What?

Natalie: I think I have a urine problem.

Me: A urine problem???

Natalie: No, a hearing problem.

Me: Oh, I guess that makes two of us.

Yesterday I kept Natalie home from school because she was having breathing problems. Since my Natalie LOVES school, she gets very sad when she has to miss it. So I told her we'd make it a fun day. It was very nice to spend the day with my girls. Natalie's favorite part was decorating a "doll cake". I remember doing this when I was little and I thought it was the coolest. She had a blast decorating the dress of her doll and specifically asked me to put it on our blog so grandma could see it. I think it turned out very pretty. Watch out Vera Wang.

Hello 2010

This blog post is way overdue. Rather than write lots of separate posts about what our little family has been up to I'll just do a quick overview:

-Celebrated Thanksgiving with my family(poor Kyle had to work)
-Found out Kim and Ryan are having a girl and that Xan and Jason are expecting as well!
-We got to meet Elder Cook when he came to set apart Kyle's dad as our Stake President. Very cool for Natalie to meet an apostle.
-Leah started laughing and rolling over.
-Kyle turned 31 and we did NOT have a party ;)
-Grandma Bailey's annual Christmas party.
-Decorating gingerbread houses that my dad made(poor Kyle missed this one too)
-Celebrated Christmas with family(poor Kyle had to work)

-We got a new addition to our family: Rainbow, Natalie's fish, our first pet ever and possibly the only animal she's not allergic to.
-Hartley's developmental evaluations came back showing she qualifies for assistance, we're excited to get that started and hopefully get her talking.

-Natalie lost another tooth(I pulled it out so she'd stop whining and eat her dinner haha)
-Kept busy with our church callings.
-Rang in the new year(poor Kyle had to work and we missed the big party in Safford, sad)
-Church time changed to 3PM(not sure how we'll do with this!)
-Celebrated our 3rd anniversary(poor Kyle had to work-are you seeing a kinda rotten trend here?)
-Threw a baby shower for Kim while she and Ryan were in town.
-Took a nap.
And now we are so happy to slow down now that the holidays are over. Hopefully this year brings lots of fun and new things to our family(except new babies, no babies this year). We have plans for home improvements and maybe a trip or two but mostly just enjoying time with our little family while we're still little.

Firsts for Natalie

Natalie has had a couple big things happening lately. Kyle and I went to our first ever parent-teacher conference for Natalie not long ago. Natalie's teacher told us she is doing awesome(duh)! Natalie is such a good reader that she goes to one of the first grade classes every day for reading and her first grade teacher has said that she is one of the best readers in his class as well. Her teacher also told us that she's putting Nat into a gifted program for math. She catches onto things very quickly and has a very very good memory, it's crazy. Her teacher also told us she appreciates that Natalie helps other kids in the class who are struggling and teaches them without doing the work for them. Way to go Natalie!
Nat has also been taking piano lessons and loves it. She has an awesome teacher and looks forward to her lessons and even practices without being asked! Last Friday she had her first piano recital. She played "Ode to Joy" and "Jolly Old St. Nicholas"(if you've been to our house in the past month she's probably played them for you too haha).
This is Natalie on the night of her recital. If you look really close you can see another first for her.

Natalie lost her first tooth!
She had been wiggling that tooth forever! Friday morning she had a dentist appointment and I told her that if she wanted the dentist to pull it out he probably would. Well before we left for the appointment she was brushing her teeth and it popped right out! She has been so very very excited about this and is showing off her new smile to everyone.

Halloween in 10 seconds or less

Is it seriously November?? Yikes where did October go? Anyway October is always a busy month for us, this year was no exception. Anyway....before it's December I'd better post about Halloween.
Every year my parents throw a big Halloween party. I was bummed because Kyle was going to have to work and I'd have to go by myself and be all sad and lonely the whole time. Well, Kyle called and surprised me Friday night saying he was able to get Saturday off(although he owed his sergeant a burrito for giving him the day off...whatever it was totally worth it)

So Saturday morning Kyle took us all out to breakfast which was a blast, maybe in the future we'll make it a tradition because it was really fun.
After we got back we carved our pumpkin.

Do you see Leah in the back watching? Hartley wasn't interested in all that slimy stuff.

Then,Kyle and I got to work on the trampoline, we wanted to finish that day. About halfway through Kyle's parents came over so I gave Dave my shovel and he and Kyle finished the whole thing!
After that was done we got ready to go to my parents house for the party. We were exhausted at the end of the day but we had lots of fun!
Natalie was a "Nice Witch"
Hartley was a fairy, she actually loved he costume!
This was the best picture I could get of Hartley, she was throwing a fit.

Now what?

Almost.....

Getting there.....
DONE!!!

Kyle has been working on this BIG project for months and months and it's finally done! He has really put a lot of effort into making sure that this would look nice, function well, and last forever. He's totally a perfectionist. We think it turned out great and we've been having lots of fun jumping on our new trampoline.(We still have another new trampoline still in it's box if anyone wants it. We'd rather sell it than ship it back!)
So now that Kyle is done with this project what is he going to do with all his free time?!? Probably landscape the rest of the yard. haha. Poor guy, he'll never get a break!

Happy Happy Birthday Girls!

Last week these crazy girls had birthdays! Natalie turned 6 and Hartley turned 2.
We didn't do much during the week to celebrate their birthdays. On Hartley's birthday she had a special breakfast of chocolate chip smiley face pancakes and on Natalie's birthday Kyle and I took her out to lunch and let her pick the restaurant. We had a combined birthday party for them on Saturday(I don't know how long I'll be able to get away with combining their parties but I'm going to milk it while I can!) Since my camera was full and I didn't have time to empty it before the party all the party pictures are on Rachel's camera. Poor Rachel, maybe some day I'll actually pay you for your photography services.(but probably not any time soon:-)) All I have pictures of are the girls' cakes.
I was super nervous about making their birthday cakes because I'd never decorated a cake before and I wanted them to turn out nice. So when the first one turned out like this..........
I got a little EXTRA nervous. It just kinda melted......I didn't cry though(Kyle said he was just waiting for it) and in the end everything worked out fine. We had a blast spending time with family and celebrating the birthdays of two very wonderfully sweet and fantabulous chicklings.

Here is how the cakes turned out in the end......

Leah's Blessing

Today was Leah's baby blessing. It was an awesome day and all I really have to say is how grateful I am. I'm grateful to have such an amazing hubby who was able to bless our baby. I'm grateful for an awesome dad and grandfathers who honor their priesthood and were there with us today(it was a bummer that Kyles dad was sick and didn't stand in but we understand he didn't want to get the baby sick too) And I'm grateful for our sweet little baby and so glad she has joined our family.

Ever try to take a picture of a 5 year old, a toddler, and a newborn??? It should be an olympic event.

Does anyone else hate thinking of blog titles???

This is what our family has been up to these days:

Leah:
Leah with Grandma Horne

Leah has been an awesome baby so far. She will be exactly one month old tomorrow! She is a good eater and has mostly been a good sleeper as well. Except today....that girl has eaten at least once an hour all day today and was up a lot of the night last night. Maybe it's a growth spurt. She has a doctors appointment this week and I'm excited to see how much she's grown.

Hartley:

Hartley has been doing well with our new addition to the family. She likes to "help" with the baby and gives Leah kisses(and sometimes tries to sit on her). She's gotten used to sleeping in her "big girl bed". We are working on potty-training her but I think it's going to be a long road. I think she is starting to miss Natalie when she's away at school. Hartley is always excited to go pick her up at the end of the day. She's definitely work but she's the sweetest, goofiest little girl and we love her to death.

Natalie:

Natalie is doing awesome with school. She recently learned double-digit addition and her teacher has her going to a 1st grade class for reading because she's such a good reader. She's such a smartie. Natalie is also taking piano lessons and just learned how to tie her shoes. It seems like everything she does she does well and we're so proud of her.

Kyle:

Kyle is DONE digging the hole for the trampoline(actually he has been for a couple weeks I guess) Now we just have to get the trampoline IN the hold and we can get to landscaping the rest of our yard of dirt. Kyle was also released from his calling with the Young Men in our ward and is now serving in the Elders Quorum. He has been in YM's since we got married(almost 3 years) so he's looking forward to getting to know more people in our ward

Me:

Nothing much exciting here. I'm loving staying home with my girls, I have the best job in the world for sure!

I've been busy busy busy the past few weeks. Having 3 kids is so much different than having 2! Although I have to admit it isn't as hard as I was expecting it to be(but it hasn't even been a month yet....) Any time that I might have spent updating our blog is being spent loving on this little one:

Leah at 3 weeks

Maybe I'll get to do a more in-depth update another day! (but probably not)

Leah Pearl Bourgeous

Leah arrived Saturday August 22nd at 10:38AM.

She was 7lb 1.3oz 19 inches long

Everything went smoothly and we're all healthy and happy and TIRED!

Sadly our camera is horrible for taking pictures of little ones. All the pictures end up blurry if I don't use the flash and when I do use the flash it flashes funny so they're always blinking....ANYWAY.....I had to steal these from Rachel, hopefully more will be coming soon.

My LAST pregnancy update.......maybe.....

We're so close to the end- I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! While I'm getting tired of being pregnant, I've been trying to enjoy my last few weeks. Who knows how many times I'll be blessed to carry a baby. The aches and pains and discomforts will be nothing in the end. More than anything I'm just so EXCITED to see this little girl!
I'm almost 39 weeks along and have a Dr. appointment tomorrow morning. I'm hoping that will send me into labor(at least it has in the past) and that we'll have our girl within the next week. I've been having tons and tons of contractions and have come close to going to the hospital a few times but then(after like 6 hours straight of strong contractions) they just stop. My doctor didn't think I was going to make it past last Thursday but here we are so.....we'll see! Wish us luck!

Our Backyard

AKA: A bunch of dirt and a really big hole......

Our backyard is looking pretty sad these days. Our garden didn't do so well and has since died from the heat and been cleaned up so now we're focusing again on getting our trampoline pit in. Obviously it's been way to hot for Kyle to work on it as much as he was a couple months ago but he's more than half-way done with the hole already. It's going to be 16 feet across(I think) and 4 feet deep(maybe) I guess I should ask him.....Once that's done we can do the rest of our landscaping and maybe even try another garden this fall.....maybe.....

Natalie's first day of Kindergarten

That's right, our little Natalie started Kindergarten this week!
For months now, every time anyone would ask Natalie if she was excited to start school she would say "NO". Kyle and I knew better than that. She might have been nervous and a little scared about starting but she was definitely excited and READY.
She was up at 5:30 the morning of her first day and bouncing all over the place with excitement. I told her I would make her a special breakfast since it was such a special day but she just wanted cereal because anything else would take to long to make and she wanted to get out the door! Kyle, Hartley and I walked her to school(she ran most of the way). We dropped off her stuff in her classroom then took her to her playground. We both did better than I thought we would. I thought I'd be more emotional and I thought Natalie would be more nervous when she got there but it ended up being a great day for everyone.
After dropping her off Kyle and I went out to celebrate(I couldn't just sit at home and do nothing, I would have gone crazy). It was so strange only have one child to look after most of the day. What did I do when I only had one??
When I went to pick Natalie up I could tell she had an awesome day. She loves her teacher and is excited about her new friends and learning new things. She said she wished she could have stayed at school for longer. Hopefully her love for academics sticks around for a while!

We are so proud of you Natalie!!!

Catching Up

I just realized I never posted anything on our blog during the month of July. There isn't a whole lot to "catch up" on but I'll work at keeping up better even if it's not the most exciting stuff.
This summer we didn't go anywhere or do anything super special. It was Natalie's last summer before starting school and I wanted to just hang out at home with my family and relax as much as possible knowing that our lives were going to get a lot busier come August.
We had quite a few birthday celebrations and family get together, played lots of games and watched movies at home and just enjoyed time as a family, it was a pretty perfect summer vacation for us.
Now Natalie has started school and we're getting ready for the baby to come within the next few weeks. There is always some project going on around our house, something we're fixing or working on so we(and when I say we I really just mean Kyle) have been busy with that.
Once our photographer gets back from her vacation we'll be getting some family pictures taken so then we'll have something cute to look at on our blog. Our girls are getting to be so big and grown-up it just kills me! What happened to my babies?

All About Dad!

Kyle is a champ at avoiding cameras, this is one of very few pictures I have of him.

In honor of Father's Day I just wanted to brag a little bit about what a wonderful dad Kyle is. Kyle came into fatherhood very quickly and has been a champ from the beginning. The day we got married he not only became a husband but he also became a father. And then 9 months later he became a father again. And in another 2 months he'll be the father of a third little girl who loves him to pieces. You'll never meet a more patient and sweet man than my Kyle. He sacrifices a lot for his family and is always willing to give even more to take care of us. He works 2 jobs and serves in our ward so he never really gets a day off but that doesn't stop him from making time for me and the girls daily. He's the greatest blessing in our lives and we all love him very very much. I asked Natalie some questions about her dad and this is what she had to say:

What is your favorite thing to do with dad?
Ride my bike.

What is dad's favorite color?
Green!

What is dad best at doing?
Helping me ride my bike.

What is dad's favorite food?
Jalapenos of course

What does dad do when he goes to work?
He.....he.....gets money?

What does dad like to do for fun?
Play with me and Hartley!

What kind of music does dad like to listen to?
OLD music

What is dad's favorite dessert?
He likes a strawberry milkshake

If dad had a million dollars what would he spend it on?
He would spend it on......toys for me and Hartley. And he would buy a new TV. And a new truck.

Who does dad love more than anyone in the world?
His family

Who do we love more than anyone in the world?
DAD!

Look at her go!

Not long after we moved into our new house, Kyle brought home Paige's old bike for Natalie. I thought it would be too big for her and that she was much too young to learn to ride a bike but, boy did they prove me wrong! Natalie picked up on it pretty quickly. Kyle got in a few good work-outs running around the neighborhood holding onto Natalie's bike while she learned to ride. Now she's a practically a pro(we're working on her watching out for cars and things while she rides) and asks to ride her bike daily.

It was pretty hard to get a good picture of her, our camera is kinda lame. Plus she rides pretty fast.....
Dad and sister watching her ride!
